Pc and mobile game bundles(Updated again, please read)

4:14 PM
Just thought I'd share a couple game bundles with you all. The Bundle Stars I believe is Steam only, the Build A Meridian4 can be activated on DesuraSteam or GOG. Please check the FAQ for more info. Added a mobile bundle as well.

Bundle Stars - Bundle #7: Indie Jam 2

Build A Meridian4

Indiegala-The Indie Gala Mobile 3

I usually buy from these, as most have a charity they give part of the proceeds, which is always a good little extra. Some even have where you can select the amount that goes to charity; such as Humblebundle. I get emails from Humble Bundle, they typically have some great deals on indie games and such.

If interested in bundles like these, either check these sites often or signup for their RSS or email.

Also, let me suggest checking out Reddit game deals, they always have the latest deals, and not just bundles.

Still waiting on the weather, so I can finally start riding

4:14 AM
Well, it seems this weather just can't make up its mind yet. One day it's 80 and the next 40, no I'm not kidding.
So my plans have been sidetracked for now, at least until it stays warm. I know for most, this wouldn't be a big deal, but for me, I personally hate the cold. I did finally decide on a bicycle; an older 90s Murray. I went with an older one because at least I know it has been through some good riding and has made it thus far, so it can't be all too bad. Plus, I can customize it the way I wish to and didn't have to spend a fortune.

It looks quite  bit different now; as I had to add some new front brakes after adding some mini ape hangers. I just wasn't satisfied with the standard Beach Cruiser ones. I knew, I could either paint it, or just add some extra spice to it myself, which I decided just to add some decals and such. Also added some flame hand grips, bought some front and back lights and other useful/fun accessories. Might add some more pictures once I am done with it.

We have a nice size group that will be riding Iroquois park and the Louisville Loop. Both of which are nice places to ride, the Louisville Loop is especially made for walkers, runners, and riders(No motor vehicles of any kind in most places for the Loop). It'll be my first time there since they got things straightened out, so it should be quite the experience.

Aside from waiting on the bike riding; I am going to attempt to grow some tomatoes again this year, didn't quite work too well last year, ha. I got a 4 tier greenhouse, nothing major but it should help if the weather continues to act crazy.
I tell ya, nothing quite like growing your own, whether it be veggies, herbs or what have you. Not sure how I got the garden bug, but I've been cooking for quite a few years now and the freshness just can't be beat.

The image above, is exactly the one I bought, I plan to perhaps add some extra stability to it, so it doesn't get blown over.
Well, that's it for updates, thanks for reading.

Spring coming, other updates

4:13 PM
Well, Spring is on its way and I for one, am very exited to get away from this cold weather.
Planning on getting a new bicycle to help me enjoy the warmth and give me another reason to get myself outside.
Not exactly sure what I want yet, I have an old mountain bike, but I think this time around I'll be going with something much more comfortable to ride. Either a Hybrid bike, Comfort bike or Beach Cruiser. (Text links are reference only, not ads)

I'm leaning towards a Beach Cruiser, for that somewhat vintage but cool look. have my eyes on a few, so we shall see. Other news, I rooted my Samsung Galaxy S3, no custom ROMS, just rooted, to get rid of the bloatware and such. Got my Basset Hound registered, updated my home office a bit; huge desk(60x30 inches) and at first, I thought I was crazy for purchasing it, but turns out, it's exactly what I needed after all.

Ended up buying a new mouse too; the Razer Naga 2012 edition and it's perfect for what I play. I still like the Logitech G9X better, sorry Razer. But the Logitech lacks MMO buttons, and yes I know Logitech has an MMO mouse, tried it, didn't like it much. Personal preference, like everything else.

Here's my beautiful Basset;

Thank you for reading.

Samsung Galaxy S3 T999

6:45 PM
Samsung to Release Galaxy S3 LTE in Korea
Samsung Galaxy S3 (Photo credit: samsungtomorrow)
Well, it wasn't expected but I got the Samsung Galaxy S3 T999 for an early Christmas gift. Funny that I mentioned no reason for upgrading my Samsung Exhibit 2, as it still worked perfectly fine but things happen I suppose, and sometimes very good things. I had the option to choose basically any phone I wanted; came down to the Samsung Galaxy Note 2 and the S3 but the Note was just too big for my taste, it has very nice reviews though.

I won't make this long, but I must say, the Galaxy S3 looks amazing, tons of features and the battery still hasn't drained fully after two days of reasonable use. When I say reasonable, I mean WiFi browsing here and there, Data browsing, syncing, downloading images, going through settings extensively as I always do. So if you're in the market for one of the top rated phones out there, I highly recommend the Samsung Galaxy S3 T999 running Android 4.1.1 Jelly bean. It comes installed with Android 4.0, Ice Cream Sandwich but I upgraded.

I'd imagine other versions of the phone are close in comparison but I can't speak for them, so do your research.

My apologies

6:12 AM
My apologies for not being very active here. I've just been quite busy and trying to enjoy life.
I've been playing Guild wars 2 also, and I love it. I hate the winter, can't wait for summer to return again, or at least spring.

Not a lot of anything to update on except, for those wondering, yes I still own the Samsung Galaxy Exhibit 4G, although mine isn't re-branded as "Galaxy" because I rooted it and didn't go that upgrade route. Still a nice phone in my humble opinion and I see no reason to get rid of it(yet).

I hope everyone is doing well and has a great Holiday season( in case I don't post before then, it's coming up fast).

Some students get in too deep, need to relax more

3:31 AM
I won't make this too long, just wanted to touch on something I've noticed a lot lately. It seems some students, take on their studies way too much, while I understand somewhat, learning something new can open your eyes and for some, they start to see new realizations never before experienced, especially for Psychology or other social science students(try saying that 10x fast).

They start speaking in big words, start to methodically analyze damn near everything, even themselves at some point. They also feel the need to criticize and examine everything, in detail, even things they have been doing for years(or others). I think sometimes, you just have to take a step back and relax, go outside and breath.

It's not as healthy as it seems and can really drive yourself crazy after a while, or those around you. I've been blogging for years and years now, I don't use huge words, not because my vocabulary lacks but because this is how I would normally speak to people, I don't feel a need to express myself using big terminology, even though I learn new words/things every single day, I like to keep relaxed, without throwing it down people's throats.

When I write something here, sometimes it may be something new I have gotten into, but I won't drag it out, I'll mention it and might just touch base on it once or twice, then I usually leave it be.
My main point is; be aware of what you're doing, if you really want to analyze something, make it exactly that; The reality of which is around you now and the prior states. Don't let it change you to the point of insanity, which is worse case scenario sure, but it's happened plenty, for one example would be psychology student syndrome(or just Student syndrome).

You'll sleep much better at night once you learn to separate the class room from actuality, trust me on that one.

Getting back into bowling(Maybe)

8:10 AM
Ten-pin bowling in action
Ten-pin bowling in action (Photo credit: Wikipedia)
I do believe the bowling bug has grabbed me once again. It's literally been years since I last bowled, I think 2004 or even earlier, can't recall. What bothers me the most is; I was fairly good and just can't figure out why I stopped in the first place. Alright, when I say good, I mean good for me.

My only real issue with bowling was; inconsistency, and now after all these years I finally know why. It was a combination of poor drilling and lack of knowledge about PAP, top weight and other more modern terms that the pro shops I went to obviously didn't know how to do or didn't care for.

That will hopefully change now that I plan to get back into it but this time around; I will do it right and get it drilled to my exact specifications. My average was around 186 or so, and my high game was 269, for what it's worth.

I went and tried bowling a couple games last Sunday and lets just say....Wow, am I rusty. But it was fun and I miss it, so I'm going again this Sunday, just to make sure it's something I wanna get back into.

Haven't posted in a while(Obviously)

3:09 PM
Sorry for the inactivity, just been enjoying the sun&life as much as possible. I've also been updating my house and yard etc. Got a new puppy-Basset hound, simply adorable.
I noticed a friend and fellow blogger shut his blogs down, whatever the reason, I wish you well Wikky and completely understand.

My Samsung Exhibit II 4g is still doing very well, for those that were curious about that particular Smartphone. Battery is still holding strong and no issues. I rooted and installed the RebelROM from xda-developers and it's working flawlessly, but I am not going to recommend for anyone to do it, as I claim no responsibility for what anyone does with their Android device.(Even if it's easy)

At the moment I am shopping for a really nice wall mural, something tropical for my man cave/office/gaming room; To give it the look of realism as much as I can. I figure if I can't go to the beach regularly, I'll bring the scenery to me.
(Image by: Eazywallz) Check that out, yes, yes I know. Pure awesomeness at its best.

Well, that's all for now, you all take care.

Not looking for guest bloggers + More

11:59 AM
I get emails from time to time from those that would like to do guest posts or ask me to do product, app and or site reviews. This is a personal blog, for just myself, so I don't take on guest bloggers. With that said, I am willing to do reviews but of course will have to research it first and make sure it's legit.

I do thank you for contacting me and wanting to do guest posting but right now I am not interested.
Especially when the example titles or posts have been done before in exact copy; This is a major turn off for me. I could understand it being close, but not in exact form. If you're trying for true SEO, you are doing it wrong.

So, please hold off on any guest post request. But if you would like a review of a site, product, app or whatever it may be, that is fine but please don't expect a rush on it, as I freelance and this blog comes second to that. I would highly recommend anyone wanting to guest blog, try for more higher ranking blogs or maybe a blog network.

See related links, you just might find what you're looking for.

ASUS Eee Pad Transformer TF101

12:07 PM
Asus Eee Pad TF-101Asus TF-101(Diego Mauricio)A while back I was talking about getting either a new smartphone or a tablet. Well, I ended up getting a tablet too, couldn't help myself. I decided on the ASUS Eee Pad Transformer TF101. It was between this, the Asus Transformer Prime and the New iPad.

I ended up choosing the ASUS Eee Pad Transformer TF101, for several reasons; First off, the price was very nice, got lucky and found one on eBay for both, the tablet and the keyboard dock, for much cheaper than the tablet alone(retail wise). Narrowing it down was not an easy process; I was torn for about two weeks doing exhaustive research, as I usually do prior to finally making a purchase.

Obviously the new iPad would have been a fine choice, as well as the Asus Transformer Prime TF201. But the Prime was just too high, especially considering the dock alone was $149.99, please correct me if this is wrong. Yes, I searched far and wide for a good deal on both but simply could not find the same deal, as I did for the TF101. Also it had issues with GPS and some other location based apps; It seems the metal back causes this, I'm just relaying what I've heard about it. The new iPad was also way too much, after considering a case, screen protector if I chose to use one, extra accessories just to make it do what the Asus could etc. I have nothing against Apple products, except of course the restrictions. No flash, even though that's going to be dead eventually, it's still nice to have just in case. No SD card slot for expansion possibilities, which is very important to me, I'm sure there are more limitations I am missing as well, but you get my point. Otherwise, they make some damn fine products, as can be seen by their sales.

Just to note, I do own an iPod Touch, iPod Classic and another iPod, an Android phone(Samsung Exhibit II) and another Android tablet(Viewsonic G tablet) so in no way am I a fanboy of either. I simply go with what works for my needs at the time.

Yes, the Android OS still has a ways to go, but it's getting there, I love it personally. Thus far, I'm loving my new tablet, it's speedy, plenty of storage with the added SD slot, viewing angle is fantastic, screen resolution is very nice, it was compatible with the latest Android update, Ice Cream Sandwich, battery life is excellent and with the keyboard dock, it's simply amazing.
That's another thing I liked very much about Asus tablets, the ability to connect a keyboard if I so desire, it also acts as a docking station and has plenty of ports for my needs. Plays games very nicely, maybe not as fast as the prime but that's why I have a Pc and a laptop.

This is my take on the ASUS Eee Pad Transformer TF101, thank you for reading.

Allods Online, long overdue review

6:34 AM
Allods Online logo
Allods Online logo (Photo credit: Wikipedia)
I've been playing Allods for a few years now, never done a review on it because I...Well, I'm not really sure why. Overall it's good for a free-to-play game, of course it has its pros and cons as all games do.
I hate item shops, but that's how they keep the game going, so I understand and have spent my fair share on it. I just wish they wouldn't sell items that give advantages to players, instead I think it would be much more appropriate to sell vanity, and perhaps potions and the like; I realize potions can give an advantage but not any permanent boosts.

What I like about the game:
  • Graphics-Really nice graphics for a ftp, just about as good as you can ask for.
  • Controls-The controls are nice, plenty of hotkey-shortcut options, WASD with point&click also, for when you need it.
  • Talents and skills etc: They give you a plethora of build options with tons of skills and such, for most classes.
  • Daily incense along with mount feed-This is great, especially for players that just can't afford to pay real money, or simply choose not to.
  • Events-They usually hold some decent events, both in game, Facebook and forums. So they do give players a good chance to compete in mostly fair conditions with a few different options.
  • Astral-This is both a pro and a con; Most Astral runs take ages to do and I hate being stuck out anywhere in a game that takes hours to complete. On the other hand it's quite different and can be fun, with the right group. I usually only go with guildies, few exceptions. I also like how they changed the loot, used to be you basically had to fight over it by rolling, but luckily they changed this system so now everyone can just loot the chest.
  • My guild mates-They're awesome, they work hard, we have fun galore and the loyalty is just amazing.
  • Piopico-One of the best GMs I have ever had the pleasure of dealing with, he does his job and does it right, while maintaining a good since of humor.
  • Add-ons-They have an add-on for almost anything and the great part of these are; Allods supports them, making it an awesome addition for customization and or utility, if you will. There's an Add-on for that!
  • Gibberlings-Cute as hell and hilarious emotes. Sample screenshot below.
Gibberlings
Gibberlings (Photo credit: Alt-x)
What I dislike about the game:
  • The gear upgrade system- It stinks, and is very, very repetitive. It also costs gold, and not just a little bit either.
  • Astral-As stated above, both pros and cons.
  • The item shop-I guess this is somewhat a pro and con also. If they would make it vanity only, with few other items as I already mentioned, it would be much better in my little bitty humble opinion.
  • Random crashes-This just started recently, but has to be one of the most annoying things ever.
  • Bards-Talking about an over powered class, but of course, this is yet again, another pro and con. Now, I get it, bring in a new class and you want people to play it, but jeez.. Seriously? I kind of find this more funny than I do aggravating, they'll get a nerf soon enough anyways. I sure wish I started one sooner, not because they're OP but the whole music thing grabs my attention, I've played the guitar for ever and a day, I also loved bards in other games too.
  • E-peen players-You know, to be honest this doesn't bother me too badly, at times it gets annoying but after all my years of gaming, I've learned to ignore and just laugh it off. I understand some people just can't be anything in the real world so they have to be something somewhere, am I right? ;)
  • Professions-They're practically useless in this game and I wish they would add some that were a bit more fun, or features such as but not limited to: Fishing, casino and other type gambling, and perhaps some mini games, that are actually in game.
Overall, I would recommend this game. Lots of people call it a WoW clone, but I assure you it's not at all. I would rate it an 8/10; it's held my interest for years and that is not an easy task. very few games have kept me coming back for longer than 6 months. So there you have it, my take on Allods Online. I'm sure I forgot a few pros and cons but this should give a basic overview of the game.

Kentucky Versus Louisville NCAA Final Four

6:59 AM
You won't see many sports related sports here but in this case, I have to say a few things.
Well, for the first time in history, the Kentucky Wildcats and Louisville Cardinals will play against each other in the Final Four of the NCAA Tournament on Saturday. The last time they even made it to the Final Four at the same time was in 1975. I for one am looking forward to it, as I am somewhat neutral now days. That wasn't always the case, however, I used to be kind of a die hard fan of Kentucky and prior to that, years earlier I was a Louisville fan.

It's still a shock that Kentucky and Louisville are meeting up but I am very happy about it and proud of both teams, can not wait to see it, I think this is one of the only games I might just watch all the way through. Who do I think will win? Well Ky is 36-2 for the regular season and 16-0 in Conference, while Louisville is 30-9 and 10-8. Louisville is obviously the underdog but they should still be respected and we shouldn't expect them to be rolled over easily; They're gonna play hard, perhaps harder than they have all season long. Whatever the case, it's going to be one hell of a game in my opinion. If I have to choose one, I'm gonna have to go with Ky and this is completely un-biased; I think they will over take Louisville by a 14 point margin; that is my prediction.

Kentucky has only lost twice and already beat Indiana, which is one of the teams that beat Ky by a very close buzzer beater. Either way, whoever wins it, I will be very happy for them without grief.
Oh, yes I happen to live in Kentucky and lets just say, it's gonna be a loud night around here when this goes down, as both, Kentucky and Louisville fans are pretty hardcore.

I remember walking in a store one day, I was wearing a Ky shirt, some guy came past me and once he got down the isle quite far he yells "Kentucky sucks!. Haha, I didn't really care much but I yelled back anyways "I don't really care! Thanks, come again!" I'm glad I'm not like I used to be, I would have followed him around and dared him to do something, but have since learned that's completely pointless.

Again, I wish both teams the best of luck and look forward to watching a great game.

Samsung Exhibit II 4G(battery life update)

3:27 PM
So, I broke down and took the plunge; Bought the Samsung Exhibit II 4G. It wasn't an easy decision and I did plenty of research, as always. Reasons I decided to go with this particular phone is:

  • Price-$198.99(Cheaper now, I would imagine)
  • OS-Android 2.3 (Gingerbread)
  • 4G capable
  • 800x480 Resolution display
  • Texting is amazing and I'm very picky, obviously as a blogger, of course I don't plan to do much, if any blogging but I still like a good keyboard. Plus it has Swype but I haven't tried that yet, as the regular texting is just great and I was pleasantly surprised by how easy it was, being a virtual keyboard and all.
  • Prepaid-At $30 a month for unlimited data(5Gigs at 4G speeds then it slows up after that), unlimited text, 100mins of talk time(which is fine by me, I do more texting and surfing the web than anything else). Plus it has WiFi calling in case I wish to use it and I can go through GrooveIp with Google voice.

So the Samsung Exhibit II 4G is just great for my needs. First 24 hours with the phone, the battery life... Well, not quite sure yet, as it hasn't died on me and I'm letting it die down all the way before recharging. I haven't used it extensively but I surfed a lot, read a bit, did some emailing, quite a bit of texting, downloaded a few apps etc. And it's only half way down right now, so far so good, I'm loving it. No freezes or anything like that yet, I'm sure I will run into some kinks eventually but that's just how it goes, nothing is perfect. Update; battery is still not completely dead yet, it's down to 5% and I've been using it on and off since I got it. So that would make it well over 48 hours. I've heard it's 9 hours and 37 minutes of continuous talk time, while I didn't do much talking, I did use plenty of data, surfing, texting, downloading apps etc. I'm sure each individual usage will vary depending, but overall I am very satisfied myself.

I highly recommend this phone to first timers, budget minded and anyone looking to get into Android that hasn't experienced it yet. Of course if you're coming from a Samsung Galaxy S II or something like that, this obviously wouldn't be a choice. I almost broke down and bought the Samsung Galaxy S II, then I saw the Samsung Galaxy Note... Wow, incredibly large screen. But I didn't wanna carry anything that big for phone use and wasn't ready to spend $550-$800 on a phone.

Well, I'm happy thus far with my purchase, I may update this if anything changes. I still might get a tablet or a small laptop but not sure. Oh, don't buy it from T-mobile unless you can get a deal, Walmart and Amazon both have it about $50 cheaper, go figure.

Thank you for reading.

Alternatives for Windows default software and utilities

6:28 PM
I thought I would finally touch on this once again; It's been a while since I've done a run down of good alternatives for standard Windows software.
Alright down to business. First off, I don't consider myself an expert on this, so take it as it is. It works for me and many others, some of these are almost mandatory, if you want your Windows system to run better, without any major bloat weighing on it. This is my personal list; it is what I use on a regular basis and have found they work much better in my opinion. I will list a few others that have been recommended by trusted sources.

Alternatives to Microsoft Office:
  • OpenOffice This isn't the one I use but I have used it in the past and it's a real nice one to have. It comes with word processor, spreadsheet, presentation , drawing/graphing tool , tool for creating equations and many more.
  • LibreOffice My personal favorite and it has the same features as OpenOffice and perhaps more now. I do apologize, I haven't done extensive research on these two but have seen that LibreOffice has gotten major attention; many say it has surpassed OpenOffice. I'm sure whichever choose will be more than adequate for your needs. Highly recommended

Alternatives to Adobe Photoshop:
  • Gimp I love this graphics editor, 100% free with free lifetime updates, multiplatform support, small footprint so it's easy on resources. Also has paint brush, pencil, airbrush, erase,  ink tools, fill, clone, layers, channels, automation, scripts and plug-ins. Simply awesome. Highly recommended

Alternatives to Adobe Reader:
  • Foxit Reader The one I currently use and it works great, I haven't had any issues, however, some have stated that Adobe Reader alternatives sometimes had issues displaying certain PDF files correctly. But again, I have yet to experience any problems thus far and I've been using for quite some time now.
  • SumatraPDF I haven't used this myself but have heard it's a great alternative also, so if you decide to go with it, I'm sure it will work just fine for most needs.

Alternatives to Antivirus suites:
  •  Microsoft Security Essentials  I don't use this anymore, but that's not to say it didn't work well, just personal preference. I still highly recommend it as it's easy on resources, good at catching viruses, and does all of its work in the background without the nagging of some others.
  • avast! Free Antivirus: Some may consider this choice a bit odd, considering there are others with perhaps more features but I simply love it. I've been using this for a long time and it has done me right. I haven't had a bad virus in years(Knocks on wood).
Alternatives to Internet Explorer:
  • Google Chrome Very speedy, secure and all around great browser. Not my first choice but I do use it and quite often.
  • Firefox My first choice, as I've used it for as long as I can remember, I've been very faithful to Firefox and again, this is just my preference. Both this and Chrome are excellent browsers.
 Alternatives for Windows Media Player:
I'm gonna be honest here; I do still use WMP, just not very often at all. It just lacks support in so many ways and you need codecs galore to get it to work right sometimes.
  • VLC Player I love this player, it plays most everything I throw at and it has a great interface.
  • KMP Player Another I use often, also recommended.
These also make good alternatives for Quicktime

Alternatives to WinZip and WinRAR:
  • 7-Zip It's the only one I've used for a long time and love it. I honestly can not recommend any others. Highly recommended
Some other alternatives you might wanna take a look at below.

Notepad++ Highly recommended

A look at bullying in this day and age.(my opinion)

9:47 PM
Everything stated below is my opinion and thoughts, in no way do I mean to offend anyone but my thoughts are not light on this subject, so please, before you read, understand where I am coming from.
I have been into Martial arts my entire life and yes, I got bullied, but I handled my situations. I grew up in a somewhat rough environment with not a lot of money, so I had to learn responsibility and do extra odd jobs, even at a young age. I think this helped me out a great deal, as funny as it may sound, it taught me to be tough and to appreciate what I had.

I believe kids that know how to defend themselves will be more confident in dealing with such matters.
I also believe parents should teach their kids more responsibility and not give in or give them everything they want all the time.

It's bad that kids commit suicide because of being bullied, it really is. It's a terrible tragedy that shouldn't exists. Kids these days have it much easier than prior generations, there for making it actually harder to handle situations such as bullying and the like. Back in the day you rarely ever saw a suicide on the news because someone was being bullied, instead you would see someone got their ass beat down trying to be a bully.

I don't have a straight forward answer for it but I can make many suggestions. Toughen your kids up! Jeez, get them off the computer, get yourself off the computer and go out, do things with them, teach them more, get more involved with their lives while they're still young enough. Don't be afraid to punish if you have to. The examples you set for them is what they look to first, so if you're gaming all day or not paying any attention to them, you only have yourself to blame when they start seeking attention elsewhere. What I mean by that is; when they start hanging out with the wrong crowds, start getting into trouble and not coming to you for advice or help when it is badly needed. Instead they take it into their own hands and without a sense of responsibility and or lack of confidence, the scenario isn't likely to come out good. So set them in the right direction early on.

If you are giving them everything they want, and spoiling them, no wonder they are so weak... Think about it... if your kid comes home one day with a referral from school telling you they got in trouble for fighting, but you hear they were defending themselves, good for them! But once you start that little speech about how fighting is bad and there are other ways to handle it, make sure they know the difference between starting a fight and finishing it, oh and do yourself that favor as well. In other words, they should not be in trouble by you, if they didn't start the fight; Otherwise you are just teaching them to become weak and weakness is no good.

Before I get slammed with comments about all this, I do believe in turning the other cheek and I know it's not all about fighting but sometimes we have no other options. This is the reason I brought up fighting in the first place; It's a part of reality like it or not and kids need to be taught about options. This is my point of view, take it as you like.
